The August 2017 meeting was our first monthly administrivia meeting since we formed. There was a fair bit to talk abut
- Group boundaries for photo taking
- Grants applied for
- Contingency if we fail to get grants
- How political does the group want to get
- Upcoming projects
- Fundraising
- Redoing the logo
- Calendaring upcoming creative practice days
Until we know what grants we have been successful with (or not) we can’t formalise what we are doing in 2018 as our projects do rely on grant money. So saying that, if we are unsuccessful then there are still things we can (and will) do. We have plans for projects that roll into fundraising/group promotion, and can be implemented fairly easily (and with minimal cost).
It’s time to make the logo less sterile. It was always meant as a placeholder and it is way too neat for a bunch of artists really – every member has the opportunity to submit their own version before the 15th September to be voted on. It should be the same-ish shape/colours so the website doesn’t need a full revamp. If we can’t get consensus then we will select one randomly using the tried and true “pulled from a hat” method.
The group agreed on the idea of each group member leading the group in a creative practice on the first Friday of the month. Keep an eye in the calendar for those as they will be starting from next month and some have already been added.
The meeting closed with everyone talking abut how much they enjoy the creative work we have been doing (and not so much the administration stuff 😉 ). We are looking forward to doing work in our new meeting area soon and pushing on with plans for Christmas and beyond.
